Augusta Raurica

The AR Experience Augusta Raurica is a site-specific augmented reality experience that allows visitors to rediscover the Roman city through a combination of digital reconstruction, narrative content, and spatial audio. Using their own devices and headphones, visitors move freely through the archaeological site while virtual scenes and stories are anchored directly to the physical environment.

My contribution to the project was the composition of the music and the complete sound design. A central focus of my work was the development of a spatialized audio mix, designed specifically for headphone playback. By placing voices, ambiences, and musical elements precisely in three-dimensional space, the sound design supports orientation within the AR environment and creates a strong sense of presence.

This spatial audio approach deliberately blurs the boundary between the physical site and its virtual reconstruction, enabling a highly immersive listening experience that deepens the visitors’ emotional and spatial perception of Augusta Raurica.
